“Fashion Revolution was founded in the wake of the Rana Plaza disaster in 2013, Fashion Revolution has become the world’s largest fashion activism movement, mobilising citizens, industry and policymakers through our research, education and advocacy work.
We are a global movement of people who make the fashion industry work. We are the people who wear clothes. And we are the people who make them.
We are designers, academics, writers, business leaders, policymakers, brands, retailers, marketers, producers, makers, workers and fashion lovers. We are the industry and we are the public. We are world citizens. We are Fashion Revolution.”
Small excerpt taken from the Fashion Revolution website, to introduce this article and talk about this initiative and how it involved us.
In March 2021 we were asked by one of our largest and most important clients in northern Europe to take special pictures of the employees of the knitwear factory.
The customer is the Danish brand Ganni, who needed these photos in order to join the “Who made my clothes?” initiative, created by the global activism movement Fashion Revolution that deals with the transparency of the production chain in fashion.
Ganni has therefore decided to show who are the companies and the people who actually work at the creation of the garments that every year they put in their collections and sell to the final customer.
All this serves to sensitize the end customer about the various processes behind the garments that buys and wears. Usually a garment is, as a matter of fact, almost always bought without considering the work or the exploitation of raw materials that is hidden behind that item of clothing.
We have therefore made a series of shots in our company that mainly portray the employees who work in the production departments, starting from those who make the programs of the construction of the garment, our four knitwear programmers, up to packaging, ironing and quality control.
We then obviously have photos in weaving department of those who actually put the yarns in the machine and check the first swatches that come down from the knitting machines, up to those who follow the the samples, correct and improve the garments by carefully following each step of the production. All in order to make sure that the garment actually correspond to the designs and style chosen by the brand designers of our client’s.
Ganni is positioned in the market as a mid-level brand much loved by influencers and the world of instagram in an article from 2018 La Repubblica defined it as “a balanced composition of different styles, the choice of colors, and fresh and youthful cuts. make a brand with great development potential.”
This development has therefore arrived and continues today with productions, as far as we are concerned for of large quantities of knitwear garments and accessories. And in general in almost all the products and accessories that make up a woman’s wardrobe.
The philosophy and target of the woman to whom Ganni addresses can be well summarized in this image taken from their website.
Here are other shots of some of the many Ganni knitwear items in the online shop and produced by us.
