From January 21 to 23, 2026, the Fortezza da Basso in Florence hosted Pitti Filati 98, the leading international trade fair dedicated to yarns and knitwear. Once again, the event confirmed its central role as a key observatory on Spring/Summer 2027 yarn trends, bringing together 103 Italian and international exhibitors and a highly specialized audience of designers, buyers, and professionals from across the textile supply chain.

Pitti Filati has always stood out for its ability to present yarn not merely as a raw material, but as a creative and cultural language. The January 2026 edition developed this approach through a path that connected technical innovation, stylistic research, and design vision, offering a broad and articulated overview of contemporary knitwear evolution. The collections on display highlighted a growing focus on natural materials, advanced fibers, and surfaces capable of expressing movement, lightness, and sensory depth.
The theme chosen for this edition acted as a guiding thread throughout the show, conveying an idea of dynamism and transformation: yarn as a living element, able to adapt to changes in taste, production needs, and evolving market sensibilities. This concept was reflected both in color research and in yarn structures, increasingly oriented toward a versatile, fluid, and cross-functional approach to knitwear.
As in previous editions, a key role was played by the Spazio Ricerca, a reference point for those seeking inspiration and an early reading of future trends. Here, yarn became a narrative tool through installations and visual paths designed to stimulate new interpretations of knitwear, linking color, material, and form. Alongside Spazio Ricerca, the fair’s special sections helped strengthen the dialogue between creativity and industry, offering a comprehensive view of the many applications of yarns within the fashion system.
Pitti Filati 98 also placed strong emphasis on education and the future of the sector, hosting projects and discussion moments dedicated to the next generation of professionals. In this context, the fair once again proved to be not only a commercial event, but also a cultural and strategic platform for the entire textile and fashion industry. The presence of editorial initiatives and spaces for in-depth discussion further enriched the experience, highlighting the importance of critical thinking and cross-disciplinary exchange.
The January 2026 edition therefore concluded as a solid and coherent appointment, capable of providing a clear reading of the future directions of knitwear and yarns. In an ever-evolving landscape, Pitti Filati continues to represent a fixed point for industry professionals—a place to observe, understand, and anticipate the changes that will shape collections in the seasons to come.
